The APF Factory’s Michael Schumacher Royal Oak Offshore has made a stunning debut. Audemars Piguet’s Michael Schumacher Royal Oak Offshore chronograph features a 44mm case and comes in three materials: platinum, rose gold, and titanium. With a thickness of 16.6mm, the black rubber strap with groove detailing gives the watch an extreme sports vibe.

Although this Michael Schumacher limited edition keeps the signature Royal Oak Offshore design, the case is actually custom-made. The watch has a one-piece octagonal bezel made of Cermet super-resistant ceramic alloy, which is seven times more durable than steel, secured with eight car-style recessed screws. The watch also comes with a uniquely designed rubber strap (gray for the titanium and rose gold versions, blue for the platinum) connected by bead-blasted and satin-brushed titanium links, designed to echo a racing car’s air intake. The bead-blasted crown, made of titanium, rose gold, or platinum, is gear-shaped with a red anodized aluminum AP logo plate. The bead-blasted titanium crown guards protect the black polished ceramic pushers, with pusher tops made of titanium, platinum, or rose gold.

At 3 o’clock, there’s a date window with red Arabic numerals for better readability, matching the black background of the other subdials. At 6 o’clock is the 12-hour chronograph subdial, 9 o’clock has the 30-minute chronograph subdial, with red hands contrasting sharply against black dials and white markers for enhanced readability. The small seconds dial is at 12 o’clock, and like the other two subdials, the red hand stands out against the black background. The inner bezel features scale markings for measuring speed—a must-have for a racing watch.

The movement is a 7750-based cal. 3126/3840 chronograph, with 12-hour, 30-minute, and small seconds at 12 o’clock, perfectly reproducing all functions of the original. After precision refinement by the JJF team, the stability of the 7750 base movement is greatly improved, solving the usual issue of chronograph watches being all style with no substance. The result is flawless, truly top-tier.
